This game was introduced to the public in 1878. It consisted of a
little box with 15 numbered square pieces that could be slid around
to be arranged in rows from 1 in the upper left corner to 15 last on
the bottom row. But then only the last two tiles 14 and
15 were scrambled which made the puzzle mathematically unsolvable
and made people rack their brains in vain. This new version is more
humanistic. There is always a solution. The software implements a
shuffling algorithm that performs scrambling by random moving, not
by random placing. So you can enjoy the game having in mind that
"there is always a light at the end of the tunnel".
